Elland Brewery Limited was originally formed as Eastwood & Sanders (Fine Ales) Limited in April 2002 by the amalgamation of two of Yorkshire’s leading microbreweries, the Barge & Barrel Brewery Company based in Elland, and West Yorkshire Brewery, based in Luddendenfoot By bringing together these two established micro breweries Elland has ensured the continuity of their brewing heritage. The company name was changed to Elland Brewery Limited in July 2006 to reinforce its close links with the town of Elland.

In September 2009 the brewery was bought by a group of real ale lovers who live in the Peterborough area; but the existing staff and ethos of the original brewery remained intact. The creation of a new brewery in Elland has guaranteed that Elland Brewery can offer its customers an exceptional range of cask conditioned beers. The brewery now has a capacity to brew 50 barrels per week and the flexibility to offer customers a choice of around a dozen beers at any one time. The next step is to introduce a range of bottled beers (including a bottle-conditioned version of the multi-award winning 1872 Porter) which should be on the supermarket and off-licence shelves by December 2010. The quality of our award winning beers is achieved through the dedication of all the staff at the brewery. The original brewers have now moved on, but original director Martin Ogley remains at the helm and a new team of dedicated and dynamic individuals are replicating the existing brews and creating new and exciting ones of their own. Elland Brewery plans to continue expanding its overall sales within a 30 mile radius of the brewery and also to extend distribution down to the Peterborough area. It currently has a customer base of over 150 free trade customers and, in addition, deals with a carefully selected group of wholesaling companies enabling its award winning beers to be distributed further afield. With the help of its friendly and dedicated team, Elland Brewery will continue to provide a fast and responsive customer service, in addition to an excellent range of high quality award winning beers. Although the brewery already has a diverse portfolio of cask conditioned beers it will not stand on its laurels and will continue to create new and interesting beers to stimulate our customers’ taste buds. .
